HOT LUNCH

Dear Parents,

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you back to another exciting year of Hot Lunch. As always, our goal for the Hot Lunch program is to provide your child(ren) with healthy and nutritious alternatives.

As you know, last year was our first year of using an automated ordering system. We will continue with that process this year, with the September order form available online in mid-July. Be on the lookout!

As you may know, the hot lunch program is self-supporting—it is not funded by Home and School or any other funding entity. After reviewing the ’07 costs with hot lunch administrators, Mr. Battisto has agreed that several changes need to be made to insure both the viability of the program and timely payment to vendors continue. First, due to rising costs from vendors, an increase in meal charges is necessary. The cost of a hot lunch meal will now be $4.00, and the purchase of “seconds” will be $2.00. Second, a late charge of $10 will be assessed for payments not received by the due date indicated on the order form. As in the past, refunds will not be given when a child is absent. This is because the meal has already been ordered and the vendor has been paid.

As in past years, Hot Lunch will be offered 2 times a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays, at the main school and at Kindergarten. We need volunteers at both locations. At the main school, the time commitment is 10:45 to 1:30 and at Kindergarten, the Crane Road Church, it is 11:00 to 1:00. If you are interested in volunteering please call…we need your help.
