WELCOME LETTER

Welcome to the St. Patrick Catholic School Web Site. The information you will see on the Web Site shows everyone's commitment to provide a quality Catholic education - spiritually, academically and socially for all the students.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

It is said that the two greatest gifts parents can give to their children are roots and wings. At St. Patrick’s School, we strive to help parents establish roots in their children’s lives. We do this primarily by our emphasis on the teachings of Jesus Christ as found in the scriptures and on the traditions of the Catholic Church. Daily prayer, religious instruction, weekly school masses and a Christian atmosphere are the means by which we emphasize these teachings and traditions.

The success of our efforts, however, depends greatly on you. For you too must emphasize Jesus’ teachings and our church’s traditions in your home. And your emphasis, like ours, is brought out by praying, worshipping, learning and creating a Christian atmosphere with your children. Working together and with God’s help, we can pass on to your children roots firmly grounded in Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church.

Fr. Joseph B. Linster, Pastor

PHILOSOPHY

St. Patrick’s Catholic School is dedicated to the spiritual, intellectual, social and physical development of the child. We believe in providing the proper atmosphere where the message of Christian values concerning family, school and faith community may grow and become an active influence on our world.

Toward this end, we focus on:

  • Christian values and a sense of stewardship.
  • Communication among parent as primary educator, faculty and student.
  • Instruction and activities that address individual learning styles, needs and talents.
  • Development of the body to insure proper growth, safety and health
This is a serious commitment that can only be realized by dedication and productive work on the part of the faculty, commission and parent, with the betterment of the student, always our main concern.

MISSION STATEMENT

St. Patrick Catholic School exists to provide a Catholic Christian Faith Community in which each child is uniquely given the opportunity for optimal spiritual, intellectual, emotional, social and physical development.

We believe the following as a foundation for our actions:

  1. The Faith Community involves parishes, clergy parents / guardian, education commission, faculty / staff and students working together to fulfill the purpose of St. Patrick Catholic School.
  2. Catholic Church teachings and traditions are emphasized.
  3. The school Faith Community is striving to live and convey the Gospel Values and Teachings of Jesus. The expressions of this are community, message and service.
  4. The focus and purpose of the school center around the growth of the children. Yet, all the beliefs and attitudes pertain to the entire Faith Community of the school.
  5. Worship and prayer are vital for the life of our school community.
  6. Members of the school community are respected as unique in various ways; abilities, age entry giftedness, background, and motivation.
  7. Learning and growth are developmental.
  8. Leadership and opportunities for sharing gifts are fostered at all levels of the school community.
  9. Each person is asked to do his/her “very best”. Excellence is expected.
  10. Communication is essential.
  11. Growth and development of the whole person are basic and lived out in various ways. Listed below are some of the beliefs or ways of fostering holistic growth:

    1. Spiritual growth is fostered through weekly worship, daily prayer, religion classes, service projects, and life-related experiences in the school community.
    2. Intellectual growth is stimulated through curricula that are designed to be challenging and supportive.
    3. Emotional growth is encouraged through creative expression in the visual and performing arts.
    4. Social development occurs in the classroom and in other ways such as Catholic Schools Week activities, lunchroom sharing, playground interaction, other social activities such as parties and dances.
    5. Physical growth and good health are fostered on the physical education program, recess, co-curricular sports activities and nutrition classes.
  12. Order, respect and self-discipline are encouraged in positive ways. Respect for personal freedom is emphasized.
  13. Learning is a process of discovery and self-activity.
  14. Education includes learning to become a good citizen who lives and respects democratic ideals, loves our country and gains an appreciation of a multi-cultural world.
  15. Parents/guardians are respected as the primary educators of their child/ren.
  16. It is important to observe and reflect upon our society in order to understand and assist life and growth in positive directions.
  17. Evaluation on a regular basis is necessary for the growth and continued vitality of the school community.
This is a serious commitment that can only be realized by dedication and productive work on the part of the faculty, commission and parent, with the betterment of the student, always our main concern.
